# Benitez prepared to make no promises next season

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly set to shock some fans this summer with a few flamboyant decisions on signings, according to the [Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rafa-benitez-ready-sanction-shock-13140864), as he makes no promises over nailed-down first team places.

Benitez has caused uncertainty amongst fans recently after he stated that he’s in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer. The Magpies’ faithful will surely feel they are well-off in that department with the likes of Karl Darlow, Rob Elliot, Matz Sels, Freddie Woodman and Tim Krul all looking to stake a claim for first-team football.

The Spaniard could, however, be on the brink of letting Darlow and Krul go in the near future with the possibility of signing Pepe Reina from Napoli or Willy Caballero after his contract expired at Manchester City.

Benitez has also made Jack Colback, Daryl Murphy and Achraf Lazaar all available to seek new options this summer as he aims to refine his squad for the club’s return to Premier League football next season.

This shows that Benitez is not hanging around in his dealings and is prepared to be ruthless in his decision-making ahead of next season.
