# Reina keen on summer switch to Newcastle

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is keen on a summer switch to Newcastle this summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport, cited on [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/goalkeeper-interested-newcastle-offer-club-puts-three-year-deal-table/) claim that Reina is interested in a reunion with Rafa Benitez, who has put a three-year deal on the table for the Spaniard.

The report suggests that Reina was holding out to see what happened in Spain with Atletico Madrid, who were at one point interested in signing the player.

Atletico’s summer transfer plans were dealt a blow when it was confirmed that their ban had not been lifted and will no longer be able to sign any players this summer.

It was Benitez himself who signed Reina at Napoli but with the Serie A club preparing a move for on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, a move away from Naples looking likely for the Spaniard.

Reina would bring a wealth of Premier League experience with him to Newcastle, who need to strengthen this summer.
