Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is looking to add firepower to his side’s frontline and Burnley striker Andre Grey is the man he desires, according to chroniclelive.co.uk.
Reports are suggesting that after months of monitoring the striker, Benitez is ready to make a serious bid to secure his services.
The Magpies already have a lethal striker in Dwight Gayle, whose 20 goals this season led them to the Championship title in his first campaign at the club.
However, Benitez understands that the Premier League is a different level, therefore he is seeking Gray, an experienced goalscoring centre forward in the top-flight.

Gray, 25, has hit the back of the net nine times this season for Burnley, including a brilliant hat-trick against The Magpies’ bitter rivals Sunderland.
However, Gray declined the offer of a contract extension at the Lancashire club and only has one year remaining on his current deal, so Sean Dyche may be forced to cash in on the striker rather than let him leave on a free transfer after next season.
Along with Gayle, Benitez has Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ayoze Perez and Daryl Murphy as options to lead the line, but the Spaniard is apparently keen to add Gray to increase competition among the forwards.
The fact that Mitrovic and Perez were part of the side which got relegated from the Premier League 2016 could be one of the key reasons why Benitez is so keen lure a proven goalscorer to St James’ Park.
