Newcastle dropped more points yesterday as they fell short at the hands of Ipswich Town.
It was a game that the Magpies had to win in order to keep up the momentum at the end of the ongoing season, with Brighton within touching distance at the very top of the Championship table prior to the game.
However, Newcastle failed to bounce back from their disappointing draw at home to Leeds just days before and were helpless as Ipswich put them to the sword in a 3-1 win.
Freddie Sears netted the opener for Ipswich just before the interval, but Daryl Murphy struck just after the hour-mark to level proceedings.
However, the hosts weren’t going to settle for just the point and struck the Magpies twice more through David McGoldrick and Emyr Huws, handing them a 3-1 win.
So, what can be taken from the defeat at Portman Road? We’ve had our say here.
