Team News – Burton Albion (H): Benitez confirms two will miss out as Newcastle edge closer to promotion

With just seven games left to go, the Championship title is firmly in Newcastle’s hands between now and the end of the season.

10 points clear of third-placed Huddersfield, they have some breathing room between themselves and the play-offs but Rafa Benitez’s side cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal.

In respect to their injury issues, Benitez has spoken out about the availability of a number of players.

Isaac Hayden made his return to the side following ankle surgery last weekend with a 20-minute substitute cameo. It’s unknown whether he’s able to start but expect him to be involved against Burton Albion.

Ciaran Clark will miss out again for Newcastle with Grant Hanley expected to continue to deputise at centre-back in his absence and while DeAndre Yedlin is progressing well, he has been ruled out so Vurnon Anita retains his place at right-back.

Rolando Aarons is still some time away from a first-team return as he continues to rehab from his achilles injury suffered in the Autumn and there is hope he could return in the final few games of the season.

Ahead of Newcastle’s visit of Burton Albion, here’s one last look at our predicted XI.
