After successive wins over Brighton and Huddersfield on the road, Newcastle were on their travels against a top six club once again, this time at the Madejski Stadium to face Reading.
In a pretty tense affair, chances were few and far between and in the end, 0-0 was a fair result and one that both managers will have been fairly happy with.
The draw means Newcastle have had their lead at the top of the Championship cut to three points, but they still have a nine-point cushion over third placed Huddersfield Town.
If you’d have offered Rafa Benitez seven points from the trips to Brighton, Huddersfield and Reading, he’d have been happy with that, but he may not be completely satisfied with last night’s performance.
