Newcastle United look to be closing in on their highly anticipated return to the Premier League this season, and they have a lot to thank Rafa Benitez for.
Many saw it as a surprise when the Spanish manager opted to remain in the hot seat at St James’ Park but he’s led them to the top of the table in the Championship and it’s been a brilliant campaign so far.
A key asset to Benitez is his simply outstanding pedigree. Having managed the likes of Valencia, Liverpool and Napoli in his illustrious career so far, he has a vast knowledge of the European leagues, and none more so than La Liga.
If, or more than likely when, the Magpies do come up to the top flight, they’ll need to bolster their squad and it would come as no surprise to see Benitez cast an eye over Spain for talent.
So, here are some La Liga players that Newcastle should consider signing in the summer!
