According to The Chronicle, Newcastle might be getting Tim Krul back earlier than expected as Ajax are considering cancelling his loan move after he has failed to force his way into first team contention.
The Dutch international signed for Ajax last summer but he has not made an appearance in the Eredivisie following his recovery from a knee injury. Krul was signed by Ajax to fill the void left by Jasper Cillesen, who joined Barcelona in the summer. However, the move has not worked out how it was expected and he is now finds himself behind Andre Onana in the pecking order.
A return to Tyneside would make things interesting in the goalkeeping department with Matz Sels and Rob Elliot competing for Karl Darlow’s number one spot. However, Sels has been linked with a move back to Belgium and if Ajax did decide to cancel Krul’s loan, it might provide and exit for the former Gent man.
