# Newcaslte could lose Atsu to Turkey in January

Summer loan signing, Christian Atsu is reportedly target for the Turkish side, Medipol Basaksehir, according to Turkish media outlet, [Fanatik](https://www.fanatik.com.tr/2017/01/10/basaksehir-chelsea-li-christian-atsu-yu-transfer-etmek-istiyor-1271317).

The club, who are also known as İstanbul Başakşehir F.K, wants to sign the winger on a loan deal with a view to buying him permanently in the summer, despite the fact he is currently on loan at [Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/).

The move would be a blow to [Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/), who are likely to be active during the January transfer window as they push for promotion.

Atsu is yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea after being shipped out on loan after loan since arriving from FC Porto in 2013.

The winger has spent time at [Everton](https://readeverton.com/), [Bournemouth](https://readbournemouth.com/), Malaga but failed to make any sort of impact of any of the clubs, but seems to have settled under Rafa Benitez at [Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/).

He has made a total of 18 appearances for Benitez’s men across all competitions and scored three goals as they push for an immediate return to the [Premier League](https://readpl.com/).
