It’s been the talk of the league since the season began. The two big hitters of the Championship facing off. Toe to toe. The media have built up a ‘faux’ rivalry, whilst fans have taken to social media to goad each other.
Both Villa and Newcastle need an immediate return. Both have fairly high wage bills, although Newcastle’s can be offset by capacity crowds and a record high transfer income for the Championship.
Newcastle boast an average attendance of 49,828, just over 95% of their capacity, whereas Villa have an average of 39,943, just 77%.
Both sides desperately needed a complete change of playing staff, with Villa spending £45-million on 9 players. Experienced campaigners Jedniak and McCormack being two of the more high profile names to arrive.
Similarly Newcastle United spent £54-million, but received almost £86-million in transfers out of the club.
No matter what, these two are the favourites for the league, but lets look back at the last five fixtures which have seen the two face off in the Premier League.
