Sissoko may yet play again for Newcastle

According to The Chronicle, despite interest from Juventus and Real Madrid, two of the biggest clubs in world football, there is still the possibility, according to Rafa Benitez, that midfielder Moussa Sissoko will be pulling on a Newcastle United jersey in the Championship next season.

Due to the interest shown in the midfielder, Sissoko and Newcastle are still unsure as to where he will be playing his football next season. With only five days until Fulham and Newcastle get their 2016/17 Championship campaigns underway, this doubt surrounding Sissoko’s future is far from ideal.

However, this has not phased Benitez and he has stated that he will continue planning to use Sissoko until the club receives an offer that is acceptable for a player of his quality. Therefore, since Juventus or Real Madrid have yet to table an offer that Benitez see as acceptable, Sissoko will continue to be seen as a Newcastle player.

In fact, Sissoko, after having been allowed a few weeks rest after Euro 2016, is set to return to Newcastle’s training ground today where he will have his fitness levels tested by Newcastle’s medical team.

If Sissoko has still not left Newcastle come the start of next season, Benitez has stated that he would be more than willing to play Sissoko. However, Benitez has virtually ruled him out next week’s game against Fulham as he does not think he will be ready in time.
