Tiote’s time at Newcastle could soon be coming to an end

According to The Chronicle, Cheick Tiote’s future at St. James’ Park is in serious doubt after he was left out of the squad which defeated Southend United in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday evening.

Tiote has been included in the Newcastle squad for all the previous three pre-season friendlies and has made appearances in each game as a substitute

The midfielder, who has made over 150 appearances for Newcastle, has been unsettled at the club ever since a deal to join the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua fell through at the last minute way back in January. With the lucrative deals that players are now getting to join the Chinese Premier League, it is, perhaps, understandable as to why he was so disheartened to have missed out.

However, as luck would have it, it appears that Tiote is finally going to get the opportunity of signing the lucrative deal that he has clearly been so desperate for. According to The Chronicle, Middle-East side Al Jazira Club are very interested in acquiring Tiote’s services.

With his obvious desire to leave Newcastle for one final pay-day and with only one year left on his current contract, Newcastle will not stand in his way if a club comes in with a decent offer for him. It is in Newcastle’s interest to sell him, as if they do not cash in on him now, he will just leave for free when his contract runs out.

A deal that suits both clubs could be agreed within the next few days.
