Newcastle set for another high-profile departure

If reports are to believed, Newcastle United could soon be set for another high-profile departure from St. James’ Park. The Chronicle has declared that Juventus and Everton are now looking to sign French international Moussa Sissoko.

Sissoko had a very impressive Euro 2016 campaign for France and his powerful and quick box-to-box runs throughout the tournament caught the eye of the aforementioned clubs.

He is set to report back to Newcastle United on the 1st August. However, it is believed that, just like Wijnaldum, he has his mind set on something bigger and better than Championship football next season.

According to The Guardian, Newcastle have priced Sissoko at £35 million. Nevertheless, this has not deterred Juventus and they are more than prepared to pay Newcastle’s asking price should Paul Pogba’s record £100 million move to Manchester United go ahead.

However, they will face some competition from Everton who are also supposedly willing to meet Newcastle’s £35 million valuation; making Sissoko the most expensive transfer in their rich history.

If both of these bids are accepted, and they more than likely will be, then it would ultimately be down to Sissoko to decide where he wants to ply his trade next season. He would have to decide whether he wants to play Premier League football at Goodison Park or whether he wants the opportunity to play in the Champions League and Serie A.
