State of the squad – Fullbacks

In this Second part of the “State of the squad” series, let’s give a look at our full-back position. We will look at the players age, contract situation, how many matches he played, how he performed last season and his potential in the future.

We had a lot of different players starting on both sides all season long and had injuries problems there too, with Dummett, Janmaat, Mbabu and Haidara all missing significant time on the sidelines, but by the season’s end Rafa Benitez finally could settle on a pair who did a fine job and locked up their places in his starting XI for consecutive weeks. Now he needs to decide who’s going to stay, who can or needs to go and if he needs to look at the market for possible upgrades.

So, let’s look at our options for next season and what can be the best Newcastle United’s interests moving forward.

matchday.
