According to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo, Panathinaikos midfielder Mehdi Abeid was being linked with a move to Portuguese side Porto in a Greek report, but a deal is somewhat unlikely.
However, a side that are interested in Abeid’s services according to the report, is his former team Newcastle United. O Jogo go onto add that Abeid’s advisers have held discussions with the recently-relegated side.
When Abeid switched Geordie life to go and play his football in Greece, it was clear that the Toon family felt that the Club should have done more to keep him at St James’ Park, as he’d shown promise the season before.

Abeid enjoyed a four-year stay on Tyneside before jetting off to Greece. In this time however, the Algerian international had only made 21 first-team appearances for the Black & White army, and never manged to put the ball in the back of the net.
However, it was the promise that the fans liked, he always looked like he had something to show.
