As Rafa prepares Newcastle for life in the Championship, players are being linked with the club and the latest is Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford, by The Chronicle.
Newcastle clearly seem to be in the hunt for a prolific goalscorer as they have also been linked with 29-year-old Fulham striker Ross McCormack, who has a £15million release clause in his contract.

The plan for Newcastle is to have a striker with a proven Championship scoring record, who could also cut it in the Premier league, and Rafa believes that Bamford, who led the line very well in the Championship for Boro a few seasons ago, could be that striker.
Bamford endured a frustrating time last season on-loan at Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace. After a poor spell, where he did not feature as much as he wanted, the striker was then loaned to Norwich City for the remainder of the season. Yet again, he again struggled for game time and consistency.

Newcastle are also looking at free agent Victor Anichebe, who has been released by West Brom, as Rafa hopes to add five or six new faces this summer.
