Having already lost Tim Krul to a season-ending injury that he suffered on international duty, lightning has struck twice at St James’ Park as second-choice ‘keeper Rob Elliot was injured whilst playing for Ireland against Slovakia.
As reported by George Caulkin of The Times, the initial prognosis on the injury is that the Irishman will also miss the rest of Newcastle’s season.

That means Karl Darlow will likely start in goal for Rafa Benitez’s side for the remaining eight games of the campaign, starting with this weekend’s huge matchup with fellow relegation battlers Norwich City at Carrow Road.
The Magpies go into the tie three points behind the Canaries, but with a game in hand, so if they can manage to get three points, it’d be a massive result.
They’re going to have to rely on Darlow to keep Norwich at bay in what will only be his third appearance for Newcastle this season.
