After making the decision to send Newcastle’s youngsters to the academy, Rafa Benitez made a visit to the state of the art facility to show that they have not been forgotten.
The change, whilst a slight surprise, was made so Rafa could concentrate on the first team in their battle to stay in the Premier League. The Toon boss joined up with academy chief Joe Joyce to make the visit. Rafa’s new coaching staff also joined him on the visit.
Sportsmail understood that Rafa didn’t want any distractions from players who would not play a part in the Club’s remaining games.
Newcastle’s main training base in Benton is smaller in size compared to other top flight sides and Rafa made the decision to maximise space for senior players by sending Beardsley and his men away for the final months of the season.
Benitez has cancelled all casual days off as he also wants to maximise the time players spend on the training field. Only a days rest after every game will be allowed.
