Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Seydou Doumbia today, fighting off interest from Aston Villa for the highly rated 28-year old.

The Ivorian spent the first six months of the season on loan at CSKA Moscow, but will now join Steve McClaren’s St. James’ Park set up. The well-known striker is still subject to getting a visa, however with the club confirming the deal, we can assume the deal will not hit any snags.
