After six years, and 169 appearances, Mike Williamson is set to depart St. James’ Park.
Wolverhampton Wanderers boss, Kenny Jackett, confirmed this morning that a deal is in place for the central defender to make a move to the midlands.

Williamson enjoyed a somewhat successful loan spell with Wolves earlier in the season, but was recalled early due to injury problems at United.
Now, a fee of around £250,000 has been agreed for the 32-year-old to join permanently.
Wolves defender Scott Golbourne is moving to Bristol City in order to make way for Williamson.
Jacket spoke of his delight of the impending transfer:
“We are losing one defender and bringing another one in which balances things out, and we are looking forward to Mike being back with us.
“He made an excellent impact whilst on loan, and brought his considerable experience and leadership to the back four.
“We will be pleased to secure his services and are looking forward to getting him back here and making another positive impact on the team.”
Williamson himself will no doubt be relieved to be making the move from Newcastle, after enduring considerable criticism throughout the last couple of years.
Earlier in the season, the defender spoke of his time at Wolves:
“My time at Wolves was fantastic, it was a good opportunity and it was a very good fit.
“I was really enjoying myself, it is a great club, players are very good – a real togetherness, and I like the manager who was fantastic – to work with him and learn from him.”
