Newcastle United are reportedly set to end their interest in Andros Townsend and move on to other targets, after they were told that Tottenham Hotspur aren’t willing to budge on their valuation of £14m.
Steve McClaren is very keen on bringing the England winger to Tyneside, and Newcastle tabled a £10.5m offer earlier in the week.

That offer was rejected by Spurs, and further attempts to take the 24-year-old on loan with a view to signing him permanently in the summer proved fruitless.
And now, as reported by the Guardian, with Newcastle unwilling to meet Spurs’ steep asking price, they could be about to end their interest and focus their attention on other targets.
Newcastle could instead make a move for Spurs target Sandro Ramirez.

The 20-year-old is available for loan after turning down a move to Real Betis earlier in the month. Ramirez, who can play both as a striker and out wide, is believed to have a £9m release clause. Although Barcelona are understood to demand a buy-back clause in any potential sale.
Newcastle have also expressed an interest in QPR’s Matt Phillips, who could be available for around £4m, and Aston Villa’s Scott Sinclair.
It is hoped that if Newcastle aren’t willing to match the £14m Spurs are demanding for Townsend, they will move on quickly to bring in other targets needed to propel the club from the relegation places.
