Newcastle United participated in possibly the game of the season, drawing 3-3 with Manchester United. Rooney put United ahead with a penalty and Lingard put Manchester United ahead, soon after a small section of Newcastle United fans decided to unveil a banner against Mike Ashley. They were quickly escorted and soon after Gini Wijnaldum finished a precise move to put the hosts 2-1 behind.
The halftime break came and went, Newcastle United came out firing on all cylinders, levelling the scores with am Aleksandar Mitrovic penalty.
The fans got behind the side as they pushed for the winner, but were caught on the break a few times, with captain Colo denying Wayne Rooney a second goal. Soon after though, Rooney slammed a beauty in to the top corner, Rob Elliot left stranded. However the game wasn’t over, Paul Dummett came out of nowhere to smash a barnstormer into the top corner of De Gea’s goal.
Ivan Toney should maybe have had a penalty, the officials looked reluctant to give a third in the game.
In all? A fair result. But how did the players fare?
