Toon transfer target Michy Batshuayi has been told he is not going anywhere this winter by Marseille coach Michel.
The Belgian has been incredible in his breakthrough season in Ligue 1, scoring 14 times in 25 appearances. As a result, he has been linked with big money moves to both Newcastle and Tottenham, with a fee in the region of £35million being touted.
Michel (as quoted by The Mirror) told the gathered press:
You want to kill me! I don’t think about Michy leaving. If we’re going to sign anyone it will be an addition not a replacement.
Batshuayi was born in Belgium but had the option to play for the Democratic Republic of Congo – Chancel Mbemba’s national team. He made his international debut last season, scoring in the 5-0 win over Cyprus.
Newcastle are in desperate need of a clinical finisher this season, with that being made clear for all to see in the 1-0 defeat at Arsenal on Saturday – especially with Papiss Cisse picking up another injury.
