The groin injury that Papiss Cisse suffered in the recent 1-1 draw with Aston Villa could lead to Newcastle bringing in a striker in January, according to Lee Ryder of The Chronicle.
The Senegalese international striker is set to miss all of the Newcastle’s games in January, which has lead to Ivan Toney being recalled from his loan spell at Barnsley, but they will still look to bring in attacking reinforcements.

Ryder also reports that there is also the option to bring back Adam Armstrong from his loan at Coventry City, where he has been in fine form, although no decision hs been made regarding this as of yet.
One attacker who could soon arrive in the North East is Henri Saivet, who Ryder says could join on a two-year deal from French side Bordeaux.
Charlie Austin is another player linked with a move to Steve McClaren’s side who are looking to add more goals to a team that have only scored 19 times in 18 games this year.
