Chancel Mbemba has dismissed talk of the possibility of relegation for Newcastle, and insists that he and his teammates can finish in the top ten.
Since arriving from Anderlecht in the summer, Mbemba has established himself as a regular starter in Steve McClaren’s side, as well as earning the hearts of the Toon faithful.
The Magpies currently sit dangerously in 17th place, just two points off the relegation zone. However, the 21-year-old believes that United deserve to be higher in the table.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Mbemba said:
“I speak for myself and the team because I am part of the team. We want to get up to ninth or 10th place, then see what we can do from there.”
I think the top 10 is where we deserve to be.
“If I look at the table at the end of the season and we are in the top 10 I will be proud for myself and of the team.”
Newcastle have picked up seven points from a possible total of nine in recent weeks, and it’s Everton up next for Mbemba and his teammates.
