Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren held his pre-match conference this afternoon ahead of this weekend’s game vs Everton.
Plenty of questions were asked, and the former England boss had plenty of answers.
During the conference, McClaren gave injury updates on several United players, estimating when they’ll be back in the fold. All quotes from the Shields Gazette.
On Papiss Cisse: “We’re assessing Papiss Cissé as to the severity of his injury, but he’s a struggle and a doubt for the weekend.”

McClaren went on to discuss other injured players such as Rolando Aarons, Jamaal Lascelles, Emmanuel Riviere and Steven Taylor.
Jamaal [Lascelles] trained this morning, Rolando [Aarons] will by the end of the week and Rivière next week. Steven Taylor is coming along well.
He also analysed United’s upcoming opponents in Everton.
“Everton are tough opponents; a very good team. They have great balance and Roberto Martínez has done a terrific job.”
