Newcastle United’s chief scout Graham Carr is reportedly in France this evening to watch in-demand forward Michy Batshuayi in action for Marseille against Bordeaux, as per The Sunday Express.
Amid speculation linking Papiss Cisse with a move away from Newcastle, Steve McClaren is anxious to add more fire-power to the Magpies’ ranks this January, and Carr – who has vast knowledge of the French market -will be in attendance at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux to run the rule over the powerful Belgian striker.
Batshuayi has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s hottest prospects after bagging 11 goals in 18 appearances for Marseille this season, and interest in the dynamic 22-year-old is expected to be rife during the upcoming transfer window.

Marseille president Vincent Labrune has conceded that, despite his hope that Batshuayi will remain at the Stade Veledrome in January, the financial muscle of Premier League clubs means that a future move away from the club is almost inevitable.
Reports last week suggested that Newcastle will have to break their current transfer record if they want to secure Batshuayi’s signature next month and, with Spurs also plotting a January bid, the Magpies will have to act swiftly to bring the former Standard Liege striker to Tyneside.
