Fan favourite Daryl Janmaat has insisted that Newcastle must make opposition teams dread playing at St. James’ Park, with the Magpies preparing to host fellow strugglers Aston Villa this weekend.
United have only won twice at home in the Premier League this season, and if this form doesn’t show signs of improving, then the club will not travel further up the table.
The Dutchman and his rejuvenated teammates delivered heroic performances against both Liverpool and Tottenham in recent weeks, thus easing the pressure on head coach Steve McClaren.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Janmaat said:
We have to make this a terrible place to come for other teams.
We are not bad players. The Liverpool win has given us some confidence at St James’ Park so now we have to build on this. We have to try to give the same effort every week.
The 26-year-old defender also spoke about the presence of the travelling supporters during Sunday’s 2-1 win vs Tottenham:
Every tackle that went in they were with us. It gives you something extra. It is really important.
Ever since replacing Mathieu Debuchy, Janmaat has established himself as one of the first names on the Toon team sheet every week. Let’s hope that he, and the team, can deliver another memorable display this Saturday against the Villans.
