Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul has heaped the praise on stand-in stopper Rob Elliot, and claims that the Irishman has been “amazing” in between the sticks.
Krul suffered a groin injury whilst on international duty with the Netherlands in October, which saw him ruled out until the end of the season.
Karl Darlow was also injured at the time, so third-choice ‘keeper Rob Elliot was called upon to fill the Dutchman’s boots during a crucial period for the Magpies.

Elliot has delivered some stellar performances since coming into a depleted Newcastle side, most notably during the undeserved 1-0 win against Bournemouth last month.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the seasoned Tim Krul praised his teammate’s performances:
I think he’s done great.
It’s never easy just to step in, especially as the team wasn’t doing that well.
They always say goalies are a bit mad, but he has been playing with an injury and I think he’s done amazing.
Next up for the former Charlton goalkeeper and Newcastle is Tottenham at White Hart Lane this Sunday, and the Toon faithful will hope that Elliot can continue with his consistently impressive displays.
