Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren has admitted that he is yet to have any conversations with the board in relation to the January transfer window, as all of his focus has been on getting things right on the field.
Despite the win against Liverpool last weekend, the Magpies are still sitting in the relegation zone and face a tricky tie this Sunday when they visit Tottenham Hotspur.
As reported by Miles Starforth of the Shields Gazette, McClaren was asked if he had met with the board to discuss January, and he replied:
You know what? We haven’t, absolutely not.

However, that comment was not to say that the club have not been working on any potential targets, and the former England boss confirmed that work was ongoing behind the scenes.
Things are going on in the background, and we have touched upon things, but our sole focus for the last four to six weeks has been about results, one game at a time. We have got four [games] before January, so we are looking forward to those four and getting results and we’ll see where we are then.
Newcastle have been linked with numerous players as the window approaches, one of whom is Paris Saint-Germain’s goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu. However, McClaren dismissed speculation linking the 28-year-old with a move to St James’ Park.
