# Player Ratings: Newcastle 2-0 Liverpool

With the pressure mounting on Steve McClaren, Newcastle took on Juergen Klopp’s in-form Liverpool side at St. James’ Park.

There weren’t too many changes to the Magpies’ side, as Ayoze Perez made way for Siem de Jong.

After a determined and passionate performance, the Toon ran out as 2-0 winners in a result that shocked many. Gini Wijnaldum hit a deflected shot off Skrtel in the 65th minute, putting Newcastle 1-0 up.

In added time, following severe pressure from Liverpool, that man Wijnaldum sealed the points with a calm, deft chip over Simon Mignolet.

Here’s our player ratings from the win.
