Mike Williamson has described his brief loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers as ‘fantastic’.
The 31-year-old’s spell was cut short this week after Jamaal Lascelles suffered an injury in the heavy 5-1 defeat at Crystal Palace. Williamson played five times for Wolves, helping them to three clean sheets.
However, Williamson himself has picked up a hamstring strain just days after returning to Tyneside.
The recalling of Williamson leaves Wolves with just one recognised centre-back, however, Newcastle United desperately need Williamson back. Captain Fabricio Coloccini is in horrendous form, while Steven Taylor and Lascelles are both injured.
Here’s what he said to NUFCTV,
My time at Wolves was fantastic, it was a good opportunity and it was a very good fit.
I was really enjoying myself, it is a great club, the players are very good – a real togetherness, and I like the manager who was fantastic – to work with him and learn from him.
In a way, I was enjoying it but if I’m going to come back to play, then this is where I want to be, in the Premier League.
The former Portsmouth defender established himself as a key member of the Wolves team, so losing him will be a big blow for them.
