Newcastle 0-3 Leicester: What we learned

The Carling Cup 3rd round defeat to Sheffield Wednesday’s reserves was undoubtedly the lowest point of Steve McClaren’s five-month reign as Newcastle boss heading into this weekend’s clash with Leicester City but, amazingly, that shambolic performance has now been topped.

Pathetic, rotten, lethargic, spineless and woeful are just a few of the words that come to mind when attempting to summarise the abysmal showing McClaren’s disinterested United side served up against the Foxes, however, they still don’t quite do it justice.

John Carver was roundly lambasted after his lame Newcastle side were turned over 3-0 at the King Power Stadium last season and Saturday’s eerily parallel display has placed current Magpies’ boss Steve McClaren firmly in the firing line.

The gloves are off as we take a no holds barred look at what we learned from Saturday’s humiliating debacle.

matchday.
