Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has been told to stay patient amid talk that he is getting frustrated at a lack of playing time under Steve McClaren.
The Senegalese international has seen his playing time limited as he sits behind Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez, who are seen to be McClaren’s preferred attacking duo.
The 30-year-old has started just four Premier League games this season – the last of which was the abysmal 2-1 home defeat to Watford in mid-September.
The former star striker made a further four appearances off the bench, but has failed to really make an impact. He’s scored just one league goal, and that came on the opening day of the season during a 2-2 draw with Southampton.

Reports suggest that Cisse came close to leaving St James’ Park in August – and there is still speculation about where his future lies.
However, Assistant Manager Paul Simpson says that the club want to keep the striker at the club, and that he should wait for his opportunity to impress.
We still see Papiss as having a part to play for us, Unfortunately, he hasn’t had the game time but he’s got that goalscoring instinct and his opportunity will come.
We’ve gone with [Mitrovic] over the last run of games and we’re trying to develop the team with him in it because he’s got a fantastic work ethic. He still has lots in his game that he needs to improve on but his attitude is excellent.
Does Cisse deserve another chance to impress? Let us know!
