League One side Burton Albion have held talks with Newcastle over a potential loan move for striker Ivan Toney, according to Ashley Wilkinson of The Burton Mail.
The 19-year-old, who signed for The Magpies from League Two side Northampton Town in August this year for a fee of £500,000, is said to be keen on a loan move as he wants to be playing first-team football.
Aged 16, Toney became the youngest player to ever play for Northampton, and after two full seasons at The Cobblers, Newcastle decided to bring him in.

According to the Burton Mail, the relationship between Steve McClaren and Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is a good one. The Dutchman played under McClaren at Middlesborough, and more recently was part of his back-room staff at Nottingham Forest. The Mail believe that this positive relationship could help push a potential deal through.
Toney has been in great form for the Newcastle Under 21 side this season. He’s scored five goals and created three more. He’s also made three substitute appearances for the first team, but has so far failed to get his first goal.
