Newcastle United are one of a number of Premier League sides interested in signing sought-after Croatian goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.
TEAMtalk report that the Magpies have joined Aston Villa in the race to sign the highly rated 25-year-old stopper this January, as Steve McClaren aims to address United’s troublesome goalkeeping plight.
The towering 6ft 7in keeper has been in spectacular form for club side Hadjuk Split this term, keeping an impressive nine clean sheets in 15 appearances for the Whites, whilst setting a new club record of eight consecutive games without conceding a goal.

Kalinic has built up a glowing reputation across the continent as a result of his consistently stellar displays for club and country and the Croatian was linked with Premier League champions Chelsea in late 2014.
The player’s agent Simon Conning is believed to be keen on earning Kalinic a January move away from the Stadion Poljud and he has already began touting the keeper’s potential availability to a host of interested clubs.
Kalanic is determined to establish himself as Croatia’s number one ahead of Euro 2016 this summer and Newcastle scouts are sure to be paying close attention when the colossal stopper starts in the Blazers’ upcoming friendly with Russia later this month.
