Newcastle’s Worst Premier League XI

Since Newcastle United gained promotion to the Premier League back in 1993, a host of exceptionally gifted footballers from all corners of the globe have pulled on the famous black and white stripes.

Whether it was French heartthrob David Ginola slaloming past terrified full-backs with consummate ease, Peruvian wizard Nolberto Solano picking out a forward with his wand of a right foot or all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer rattling in a thunderous 25-yard volley, Newcastle supporters have been electrified by some of the magnificent talents to grace the hallowed turf of St. James’ Park.

Unfortunately, not every United player has succeeded in earning the adoration of the Geordie faithful. A monumental number of journeymen who arrived on Tyneside with bags of promise have spectacularly failed to fit the bill during their ill-fated spells with the Magpies.

When it comes to picking a worst Newcastle Premier League XI, I am inundated with a wide range of candidates, however, I will attempt to narrow the contenders down into one hopeless side of the black and white’s biggest flops.
