Steve McClaren has been handed a fitness boost ahead of Sunday’s Wear-Tyne derby with United youngsters Kevin Mbabu and Rolando Aarons returning to full training.
Swiss defender Mbabu, who impressed with a fearless Premier League debut against champions Chelsea, has shaken off the hamstring injury which forced him off during United’s defeat at the Etihad stadium.
Exciting winger Aarons suffered a thigh injury on the eve of last month’s home clash with Chelsea and fans will hope that the talented England U20 international can finally overcome the niggling issues which have restricted his first team opportunities throughout 2015.

Speaking to The Chronicle, assistant coach Paul Simpson said:
Kevin Mbabu and Rolando Aarons joined in training on Tuesday, so they will have a full week of training leading up to Sunday. So good news all round.
McClaren could name an unnamed side for Sunday’s vital clash at the Stadium Of Light, however, the return of two of Newcastle’s brightest young stars presents the United head coach with a welcome selection dilemma.
