# Top clubs monitoring Newcastle trio

Clubs from across Europe have begun their preparations for the January transfer window. Scouts are being sent here, there and everything in order to discover the next rising star, while managers are being made to sweat over their best assets being prized away from them.

Newcastle are no different. Graham Carr has been out identifying a number of potential January targets, with names like Alexandre Lacazette and Charlie Austin still being linked with moves to Tyneside. But, according to a report by [Mark Douglas of the Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-face-battle-keep-10234534), we can expect some outgoings this January.

Mark claims scouts from a number of top European clubs, including Chelsea, Juventus and Spurs, have attended Newcastle’s games this season to watch Dutch right-back Daryl Janmaat, while Ayoze Perez and Moussa Sissoko have also attracted interest from so-called ‘bigger clubs’.

The news probably comes as no surprise to the majority of the Geordie nation as Daryl Janmaat and Ayoze Perez have been Newcastle’s stand-out players for the past 18 months – both proving they are more than capable of playing Champions League football. Meanwhile, Moussa Sissoko has talked up an exit in search of Champions League football ever since signing for the Magpies, so a January departure for him seems inevitable anyway.

It isn’t all bad news, though. While a number of clubs are monitoring our players, [Mark](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-face-battle-keep-10234534) does state McClaren is keen on another striker and has shortlisted Benik Afobe from Wolves and Charlie Austin from QPR as his priority targets. The scouting team have been sent to Germany and Spain in the past few months to spot talent, with a striker and centre-back (replacement for Coloccini) on the agenda.
