Newcastle Chronicle are reporting the Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Magpies striker Ayoze Perez during the summer.
The Spaniard has revealed Spurs tried to move for him in the summer transfer window, however, the move was blocked by Newcastle. Perez has described Tottenham’s interest as a ‘very nice compliment’, but he is focused on trying to win a spot in Vincent del Bosque’s Spain team for Euro 2016.

The 22-year-old joined Newcastle from Tenerife last summer, having been named in the team of the season and being awarded best-attacking midfielder and the best breakthrough player the season before. His transfer fee is believed to be around €2m.
The club blocked Tottenham’s approach to sign him in the summer, as they felt he was an invaluable member to the squad.
He has made 47 appearances for Newcastle during his time with the club, and has contributed 8 goals and a solitary assist.
