While Newcastle fans were getting so caught up in Mike Ashley splashing £50m in the summer transfer window, it seems as if the club connivingly made an ‘under the radar’ signing in all the chaos.

This signing goes by the name of Gideon Adu-Peprah – a 17-year old Ghanaian left-back. It’s safe to say that the youngster is a relatively unknown quantity, so here’s a deeper insight to the kid:
Place of birth: Ghana
Qualities: Pacey, agile, quick feet, good awareness and endurance
Former club: Manchester City
Transfer fee: Free transfer
Positional capability: Left-back or centre-back
Length of contract: Two years

Adu-Peprah was handed a two-year contract, with the club currently looking for suitable cover in the left-back area. Our current left-backs include the injury prone Paul Dummett, the out-of-form Massadio Haidara and the young Kevin Mbabu (who still has Pedro in his back pocket).
The Ghanaian featured in Newcastle reserves 1-1 draw with Swansea recently, where he was taken off with an injury after just 20 minutes. First-team gaffer Steve McClaren was present at the game, so it wasn’t an ideal start to the youngster’s Newcastle career.
We still don’t know how nobody knew about this ‘secret signing’ until now!
