When Ayoze Perez arrived on Tyneside last summer, nobody predicted that he would blossom into a star in his debut season in the Premier League.
The Spaniard, 21, cost roughly £1.4million (as per transfermarkt) and was expected to work under Peter Beardsley in the reserves. However, a string of injuries and suspensions to Newcastle’s forwards saw then manager Alan Pardew turn to young Ayoze – and we haven’t looked back since.
Last season, Perez netted seven times in 36 appearances – an impressive feat considering a lot of his appearances were off the bench and spent out-wide.
Recently, Ayoze held an open question and answer session on his Facebook page, but this didn’t receive much publicity – so we’ve decided to highlight the best bits for you.
