# Krul slams Newcastle’s ill-discipline

Newcastle were heavily criticised in the media last week for being too ‘[physical](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/massadio-haidara-dismisses-claim-newcastle-9963960)‘ following Mitrovic’s sending off, for a mistimed tackle on Francis Coquelin – just two weeks after Daryl Janmaat was red carded for late challenges on Swansea’s Jefferson Montero.

While Janmaat was only suspended for one match (a difficult trip to Old Trafford), Mitrovic will serve a three-game suspension – missing an away day at West Ham, before two home games against Watford and Chelsea. Mitrovic will return for the Magpies’ trip to the Etihad. Papiss Cisse is expected to lead the line in his absence.

Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul has publicly criticised Newcastle’s lack of discipline in the season’s opening four fixtures – stating ‘it’s not acceptable’ in an interview with [BBC Newcastle](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34128587).

“We know it’s not acceptable and we have to learn quickly,” he said.

> It’s hard enough with 11 players in the Premier League and to get two first-half sending offs makes it hard for us.

“We have to look at the positives, we’ve got a great group and spirit, real quality and we just have to get the first win.”

It wasn’t all bad from Krul though. The Dutchman went on to praise new manager Steve McClaren and the impact he has made on Tyneside already.

“Look at the bench. For me as a goalkeeper I thrive on top quality players in front of me,” he added.

“If I see \[Fabricio\] Coloccini put a fantastic block in, Moussa \[Sissoko\] and Jack \[Colback\] tracking back, that gives me a lift.

> “We thrive off each other, we did that last week \[against Manchester United\] and nearly did it this week \[against Arsenal\].

“The manager believes when we get that first win we can have something really special, it’s no good talking about it we’ve got to show it.”
