Newcastle are set to step up their interest in Wolves striker Benik Afobe, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Arsenal man has been linked with a move to Tyneside recently, but it is Premier League new boys Norwich who have shown genuine interest – having had three bids rejected already this summer.
Having cooled their interest in signing Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, Newcastle are expected to step up their efforts to sign Afobe, but the move may have to wait until January as they will need to offload Papiss Cisse first.

The former Arsenal man only joined Wolves last January and quickly became one of the hottest prospects in the Championship, hence why so many are interested in the forward.
When questioned about Afobe, Steve McClaren denied interest and suggested Newcastle’s summer spending was over – though he did state a deal could happen, provided it was the ‘right player‘ for the club.
