# Gouffran offered potential route out of Newcastle

Newcastle outcast Yoan Gouffran may be on his way to St Etienne, according to [French Football](https://www.francefootball.fr/magazine/).

The 29-year-old Frenchman has failed to light up St James’ Park since arriving in 2013, and has been told he has no future on Tyneside.

Ligue 1 outfit St Etienne are interested in the former Bordeaux star and will look to do a deal with the Magpies, providing they qualify for the Europa League group stages.

Gouffran hasn’t featured in any of Steve McClaren’s three Premier League match-day squads this season, and with one year left on his current deal the club are actively looking to offload him.

St Etienne are looking to strengthen their side after losing star man Max Gradel to Premier League new boys Bournemouth for a fee of £7million and have identified Gouffran, who can play a number of attacking positions, as an ideal candidate to fill the void left by the Ivorian.

Should a move to St Etienne not materialize, [HITC Sport](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/08/26/gb-yoan-gouffran-set-for-newcastle-united-exit/?utm_medium=share%2Bbutton&utm_campaign=social%2Bmedia&utm_content=/en-gb/2015/08/26/gb-yoan-gouffran-set-for-newcastle-united-exit/&utm_source=Twitter)understands Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Derby are keen on Gouffran, while [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-transfers-gabriel-obertan-yoan-6301765) state Nantes are also interest – surprisingly a lot of potential suitors.

With the arrival of £13million man Florian Thauvin, Gouffran has fallen further down the pecking order and is inching ever closer to the exit door at Newcastle.
