It is being reported by The Chronicle that Newcastle duo Gael Bigirimana and Kevin Mbabu, who are both available for transfer, were watched by scouts from Burnley and Wigan Athletic on Monday night. Steve McClaren has said he is open to offers for both players and it appears that there are a couple of interested parties.
Bigirimana, a Burundian midfielder, joined the club fromCoventry in 2012 but has only made 13 appearances in his time, scoring one goal which came against League One side Wigan Athletic.
Mbabu is a swiss full-back who joined the club in 2012 from Swiss giants Servette FC, he has never made a first-team appearance for the club and it looks as if he won’t be afforded that chance.
Newcastle had originally seen these two as future first-teamers, but with young players such as Ivan Toney and Chancel Mbemba joining the Toon they have become relatively obsolete players.
Bigirimana clearly has some talent and a club like Burnley would be a good fit for him to revive and kick-start his career. As for Mbabu, people will be buying potential, but there should be suitors as good full-backs are hard to find in the modern game.
