Watch current Newcastle United and England under-20 rising star Rolando Aarons showcase his close control and dribbling abilities at close quarters to see why he has been dubbed one of the most exciting attacking prospects in England in a brilliant video with Furious Football Diaries.
Aarons has emerged as a target for Liverpool, who are actively looking to replace Raheem Sterling, who recently joined Manchester City for £49million. Aarons has been likened to Sterling and is in keeping with the type of player Rodgers likes to work with – young, pacy and good technical ability. As it stands, he is yet to pen a new contract with Newcastle and could be available at the right price.
Whilst the video focuses on his speed and footwork, the in-game qualities of Aarons are well documented as he rose to prominence last season making his debut against Manchester City; scoring and assisting against Crystal Palace and scoring in Newcastle’s memorable League Cup victory at the Etihad.
Aarons has imposed himself on new boss Steve McClaren’s thoughts during pre-season with some impressive performances including a superb long-range strike and bicycle kick against Portland Timbers. It is clear that McClaren has big plans for Aarons this season and is eager to tie him to the club long-term but faces interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City as well as Liverpool.
