Newcastle United suffered a 2-1 defeat to League Two outfit York City earlier today so, rather than ranting about our woeful defence, here is a pictorial view of the game.

Steve McClaren watching on from the sidelines – he was not impressed by what he was watching.

Newcastle concede the opener as the ball cannons off Anthony Straker’s knee and lobs Karl Darlow.

A few minutes later, Newcastle were 2-0 down as a trialist rifled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Aleksandar Mitrovic would have hoped for a better debut but the big Serb was in the right position a number of times and came close to scoring his first in a black and white jersey. He’ll be happy with the 70 minutes McClaren gave him and will be pressing for more minutes in Newcastle’s final pre-season fixture at home to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
