Reports in Italy from Calcio Mercato suggest Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Argentina international, Federico Mancuello.
Daniele Trecca reports the Magpies have joined Manchester City, Tottenham, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham, Palermo, and Sampdoria in the race for the Independiente midfielder.
Who Is Mancuello?
The 26-year old is versatile and has been known to play across the whole of midfield switching from playing on the wing to playing in a more central role.
Mancuello stands at 5ft9 and is known for his commanding and energetic performances in the Argentinian league. His form in the past seven months led to his first international call-up since going on to play twice for Los Gauchos.
TransferMarkt value Mancuello at just under £3-million, but would go for more if he does end up leaving Argentina this summer.
Since turning professional in 2009, Mancuello has made 143 appearances for Independiente including lifting the In 2011, the South American equivalent to the Europa League, the Copa Sudamericana in 2010. He also spent a short time on loan at Belgrano. During his time as a professional he has found the net 20 times.
