Following confirmation of Newcastle’s second signing of the summer, Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic from RSC Anderlecht, we take a pictorial look back over his career so far.
September 2012. First up, two snaps of Aleksandar in action against FC Neftci in the 2012 Europa League group stage.


October 2012. In the next round, Partizan drew Italian giants Inter Milan. Here’s a very young Mitrovic in action.


June 2013. Serbia take on Belgium in World Cup 2014 qualifiers. Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany was handed the responsibility of marking Mitrovic.

August 2013. After a fine season with Partizan, Mitrovic signed for RSC Anderlecht – with one of the most ridiculous haircuts we have ever seen. During his time with Partizan, he scored 13 league goals in 28 appearances.


September 2013. Mitrovic made his Champions League debut against Portuguese outfit Benfica – ironically, the last team Newcastle played in a competitive European match.

October 2013. He followed up his Champions League debut with an impressive performance against Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.



In his debut season with Anderlecht, Mitrovic netted 16 times in 32 games and instantly became a fan favourite.


December 2013. Mitrovic replaced Anderlecht’s goalkeeper Silvio Proto, but couldn’t stop Dominguez’s spot kick finding the back of the net.

February 2014. New year, new haircut for Mitrovic.

May 2014. Anderlecht were crowned champions of the Belgian Pro League. Here’s Mitrovic celebrating:


The 2014/15 Champions League campaign was a successful one for Mitrovic, who impressed against Galatasaray, Dortmund and Arsenal.
